These artists rebel through expressive rhymed words and rap songs that raise questions about accountability and the rising injustice and marginalization, along with beats meant to bring peace to the city by spreading positive lively vibes. TRIPOLI (Reuters) - Libya’s coastguard intercepted 299 migrants from sub-Saharan African countries on two rubber boats east of Tripoli on Thursday, officials said. Relations between the two countries have slowly been repairing under Barack Obama's administration. But what will U.S. and Libya relations look like under Donald Trump? End of prayers STORYLINE: Millions of people across Libya massed for Friday prayers for the first time since the killing of former leader Moammar Gadhafi. In Tripoli, some struggled to express the feeling of living in a fully liberated country. "From the children the young people, the old men, old women we cannot express our feeling. We are, I don't think there is something better than this happiness so far for the Libyan people for the last 42 years," said Jalal Abu Khalal after Friday prayers. Protests followed the prayers with many calling for the removal of Syrian leader Bashar Assad who has conducted a brutal crackdown on his people in recent months. "It's your turn next, Bashar," they chanted, while waving the new Libyan flag and giving victory salutes. In Misrata, which saw some of the fiercest fighting between Gadhafi's forces and rebels, many of those at Friday prayers were already looking forward to the next chapter in Libya's history. "We are truly happy the Libyan dream has been made thanks to God and the fighters and now the Libyan people are united after we got the tyrant and in God willing we are united to build new Libya," said Misrata resident Mohamed Ahmed. Various of traffic 11. Mid of man firing in the air 12. Woman in military uniform taking photos STORYLINE: Tripoli appeared calm on Tuesday night and residents were out shopping after breaking their fast for Ramadan, despite fighting between forces loyal to embattled Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi and rebels continuing in other parts of the country. Footage filmed under strict supervision of the Libyan government showed traffic in Tripoli''s Green Square and people shopping. Fattah Abdullah, a resident in Tripoli, said that people were living life as normal. "We do not care about the NATO anymore, we are living as we were before, we live, we do shopping, we do everything, actually we do not care anymore," Abdullah said. Another resident, Ammar Ali, also said that the situation was "normal". "Despite of the continuous bombing of NATO every night, people are out on the streets, we cannot find the words to express how people are getting out on the streets to shop during Ramadan, the situation is normal," Ali said. Meanwhile, heavy fighting was taking place for control of the strategic city of Zawiya, just 30 miles (48 kilometres) west of Tripoli between opposition fighters and government forces loyal to Gadhafi, where the rebels were trying to cut supply routes between Tunisia and Tripoli. The routes are critical for moving food, fuel and weapons over land to the capital. With NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organisation) imposing a no-fly zone over Libya for months and bombarding regime targets, the coastal road has become a lifeline between the capital and the outside world. The eastern half of the country is now firmly in rebel control, with a transitional leadership based in the de facto capital of Benghazi. The east''s main front line is at the strategic oil terminal of Brega, where trucks carrying rebel anti-Gadhafi forces entered on Tuesday. Brega has passed back and forth many times between rebel and regime control. Brega is nearly 500 miles (800 kilometres) west of Zawiya. Libyan coast guard intercepts nearly 300 migrants east of Tripoli. TRIPOLI (Reuters) - Libya’s coastguard intercepted 299 migrants from sub-Saharan African countries on two rubber boats east of Tripoli on Thursday, officials said. The migrants were intercepted near the town of Zliten by one of several coastguard vessels that Italy repaired and delivered to Libya earlier this year. Libya‘s western shoreline is the main departure point for migrants trying to reach Europe by boat, many of them fleeing conflict or poverty.

(16 Jul 2017) LEAD IN: Residents of Benghazi are celebrating the re-opening of their international airport, which was destroyed by extremists three years ago. STORYLINE Benghazi, Libya's second city, officially has an international airport once again. Benina International Airport, the city's main airport has been re-opened by the Libyan authorities after the army succeeded in defeating the extremist militias that destroyed the airport and took it out of service three years ago. However, the airport still lacks some vital services, as its director, Abdullah Al-Shafei, admits: "We still lack explosives detection equipment which we wanted at the external gate; God willing they will be available in the next period. There's also a shortage of some navigation equipment. Also we want some additional fire trucks," he says. He thinks that on the biggest issue - safety - the airport is secure: "We are optimistic concerning the security services, there is a security presence and they are keen for their work. As well as the management of the airport and the carrier companies, we are only in need of some organisation at the beginning." "We promised ourselves that we will provide all services needed with the highest potential for all travellers from Benghazi or any other city," adds Abdelati Al-Shiekhi, the head of Ground Services. The opening of the international airport makes it easier now for the people of Benghazi to travel, as in order to fly abroad they had to make the 450 kilometre (279 miles) journey to Tobruk. Some of the first airport passengers are jubilant at the re-opening: "Firstly, we feel good, thanks to God that Benghazi was liberated and for the liberation of Benina airport, many people have sacrificed and stood together," explains local traveller Radhi Al-Gazwi. "God bless the army and police. If not for the army this couldn't be possible, and all this is for the support of all Libya and Benghazi in particular." "This is the best day of my whole life," claims Bothaina Mostafa. "Even though I am an Egyptian, but I have been here since 1973, thanks to God and may God bless the rest of the country." Three local airlines, Afriqyah Airways, Libyan Airlines and Air Libya, will resume their flights from the airport. The first three flights went to Amman in Jordan, Kufra in the south of Libya, and Tripoli in the west of the country. The UN has stopped all flights in and out of Libya and, during a seven hour wait to board the ferry to Malta, tempers flare. Despite these hardships Libya prospers. A Libyan official speaks frankly about his leader and admits mistakes have been made. He expresses regret for Libya’s backing of the IRA and says it was revenge for Britain’s part in the 1986 raid on Tripoli. We visit Gaddafi’'s bombed house - an eerie shrine to his daughter who died in that attack. Human rights abuses are detailed by a former university lecturer in Libya. He talks of lynchings in the university grounds. This film challenges the West’s view of Libya and looks at Gaddafi’s struggles both at home and abroad. Libya's UN-backed government hopes for continued political and military cooperation with the U.S. after Donald Trump's victory. Since the fall of Muammar Gaddafi in a 2011 uprising, Libya has been beset by factional fighting among brigades of ex-rebels. The United States has helped with air strikes in Sirte and given political backing to Prime Minister Fayez al-Seraj and his Government of National Accord. Relations between the two countries have slowly been repairing under Barack Obama's administration. But what will U.S. and Libya relations look like under Donald Trump? Residents of Tripoli have expressed mixed reactions
